Official grid in force
Fares aren’t negotiated,
they’re checked.
Paris taxi fares are set by prefectoral decree. They’re identical for every taxi in the area: what you read here is what shows on the meter.
Time-and-distance grid in force since 21 January 2026.
Pick-up charge and minimum
Every ride starts at 3,00 €. If the total, supplements included, stays below 8,00 €, that minimum charge is billed.
Kilometre tariffs
| Slot | When it applies | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Tariff A | Central Paris, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. | 1,30 €/km |
| Tariff B | Paris from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. · Sunday 7 a.m.-midnight · public holidays · inner suburbs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. | 1,66 €/km |
| Tariff C | Paris on Sunday from midnight to 7 a.m. · inner suburbs 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Sundays and holidays | 1,76 €/km |
“Inner suburbs” means the communes of the Paris taxi area outside Paris — including Créteil and Bondy.
Hourly tariffs (slow traffic and waiting)
Below a certain speed, the meter switches from distance to an hourly tariff. That’s what makes a trip more expensive at 6 p.m. than at 2 p.m., over exactly the same distance.
| Slot | Hourly price |
|---|---|
| Tariff A | 39,55 €/h |
| Tariff B | 52,56 €/h |
| Tariff C | 43,15 €/h |
Airport flat fares
Between central Paris and the airports, the price is a fixed, mandatory flat fare, identical outbound and return.
| Trip | Flat fare |
|---|---|
| Roissy-CDG ⇄ Paris right bank | 56,00 € |
| Roissy-CDG ⇄ Paris left bank | 65,00 € |
| Orly ⇄ Paris right bank | 45,00 € |
| Orly ⇄ Paris left bank | 36,00 € |
Left bank = 5th, 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 15th; right bank = all other arrondissements. Departure or arrival outside central Paris: the ride goes back on the meter.

Frequently asked questions
- Why doesn’t the price start at zero?
- Every ride begins with a pick-up charge of €3,00, to which the mileage is added. Below €8,00 in total, supplements included, the minimum charge of €8,00 applies — a regulatory floor, identical across all Paris taxis.
- What moves you from tariff A to tariff B?
- The hour, the day and the place — never the driver. Tariff A only applies in central Paris on weekday daytime. From 5 p.m., on Sundays, public holidays, or outside Paris, it moves to B then C. The letter is shown on the meter throughout the ride.
- Why does the meter run while stopped?
- The taximeter switches to an hourly tariff when speed drops below a threshold: traffic jam, red light, requested waiting. That’s why the same trip costs more at peak hours, over an identical distance.
- Can the airport flat fare be exceeded?
- No. €56 or €65 to Roissy, €45 or €36 to Orly: the amount is fixed, whatever the traffic and duration. It only applies between central Paris and the airport, and stops applying in case of announced multiple destinations or a change of destination en route.
